Books are better than television
Submitted by nlphuong on Sun, 25/08/2013 - 06:15(ICTPress) - “I agree that books are better than television".
(ICTPress) - Hello everyone, my name is Van Do. I am year 2 student at Nedlands Primary School.
I have been living in Perth since April 2012. When I was in year 1, I was granted a Certificate of Merit for writing a very convincing persuasive text on why books are better than television. Here comes it.
“I agree that books are better than television".
Firstly, books can help you know how to speak English, television can’t help you know how to speak English.
Secondly, books are can close whenever you want, television can’t close whatever you want.
Thirdly, you can take book to bed, you can’t take the television.
Therefore, I think books are better than television.”

From 29 Aug to 14 Sep 2013, the Goethe- Institut and the Fine Arts Museum Hanoi present photo reportages of 22 cities around the world.
The city is the origin of civilization, melting pot of cultures, mentalities, religions and ideas. Each day around the world almost 200.000 people are moving from the countryside to the cities, looking for a better life, security, freedom and prosperity. The city offers great chance, but also great risks for each individual: poverty, criminality and anonymity as well as blatant contrasts which shape many megacities today. Although: The city is the future of the world, the place which determines how people will henceforth live together.
The 18 photographers of the German agency OSTKREUZ are on the quest for finding the urban realities of today: How are people living in Tokyo and Manila, Lagos and Las Vegas, Berlin, Minsk and Gaza? Made up of overall 22 cities around the globe, the photographers have concentrated their personal impressions into photographic essays – a once-only long-term project. Shown are cities as places of future hope, but also in a way in which they seem to perish under the waste and chaos. All pictures present as a whole: the city of the future.
OSTKREUZ is the most significant Germanphoto agency. Founded at the end of the GDR in East Berlinafter the model of Magnum it hosts the most import contemporary German photographers. To its 20-year-anniversary OSTKREUZ members conceptualized and realized the exhibition “The city. From the becoming until the decay”, which is on an international tour since 2010.

Life & English: “Life in the future”
Submitted by nqmhien on Tue, 13/08/2013 - 09:46(ICTPress) - My future world is very interesting! Is it right? Everything will be smarter and we won’t go to school everyday.
Hello! My name’s Hang. I’m a student at Vietnam– Angeri school! Here are my predictions for the year 2099.
Transportation: In the future, I think transportation is very different from today. Many bridges and highways will be grown up. The cars will be smaller, longer and look like fishes!!! Why? Because everyone will want to have a car, so if vehicle still looks like today, we cause lots of traffic jams. We won’t see a lot of motorbikes and won’t see the bicycles, because bicycles are very slow. Planes in the future will still looks like now, but it will fly ten times faster and it is safer. Buses will be still popular. Many people like and usually use it. They contribute to reduce environmental pollution. I like bus, too!
Everything will be smart. The computers in the future are very smart. They will teach us all of subjects and can talk like the real people. So, we won’t go to school everyday, about 1 or 2 days a week. That’s great! We can learn at home from the computers. Computers will be our good friends. Television, electric fan, lamp, radio, camera and everything will be as smart as a computer. I think we can control them with voice and gesture. Oh! Beautiful life!
Would animal feed be rare? Yes! Animal feed would be very rare, because we can’t catch or domesticate them. They are very quickly evolved to become more intelligent in how to protect themselves. So, what will we eat? Only vegetables! Oh my god.
Aliens? Oh! I think aliens will contact us. They are friendly and interesting!!! But… they are very big. They have 3 eyes, 4 ears, 1 nose, 4 arms and 6 legs.
Oh! My future world is very interesting! Is it right? Everything will be smarter and we won’t go to school everyday. But we won’t eat many animals and will contact aliens. Would you like to live in my future world?

Life & English: “I love Ha Noi”
Submitted by nqmhien on Sun, 11/08/2013 - 00:56(ICTPress) - I think the best thing about Hanoi is the culture. Local people are friendly.
I live in Ha Noi- the capital of Viet Nam. Its population is 6.561.900 people and it ranks the second biggest city inVietnam.
Unlike Sai Gon, Ha Noi always preserves the traditional beauty. Ha Noi is a classical, beautiful city. Ha Noi’s Old Quarter, the historical center, is still the most crowded area. Over the years, the residents lived by trade and craft that formed 36 streets such as: Hang Bac, Hang Than.... Nowadays, Ha Noi is more modern with many high buildings, supermarkets,... The city is crowed and busy with many vehicles.
Hanoi always attracts tourists, especially Hoan Kiem lake - the diamond of Ha Noi. From the top of the high buildings, it looks like a mirror.TurtleToweris one of specialist things when you tell about Hoan Kiem lake. The tower is located on an island in the middle of Hoan Kiem lake. Near the tower, there is a red bridge. It’s The Huc Bridge, and it’s like a crawfish. The bridge leads toNgocSonTemple. Moreover, Ha Noi has the historical places and public buildings likeTemple of Literature, Thang Long Imperial city, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, FlagTower,...
Ha Noi’s cuisine is delicious. It’s famous for noodles, “bun cha”, green rice cake,... But I think “pho” is the most delicious food. It has white rice noodles with thin cuts of beef, vegetable, and spice such as chili, chili sauce..
I think the best thing aboutHanoiis the culture. Local people are friendly. They are polite and they’ll help you if you have any problem.
I love Hanoi.
