September 2nd, 1945 is an important landmark marking a major turning point of Vietnam. It was an establishment day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and is also considered the National Independence Day of the current Socialist Republic of Vietnam. President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, officially claiming the independence and sovereignty of Vietnam from France and Japan.

As a typical National Day, Vietnamese has a day-break from work to commemorate the event’s historical significance. A notable sign for the cheerful spirit of the day is the appearance ofVietnamflags everywhere, coloring the whole country with lively red backgrounds and jovial yellow stars. The streets are exploded with a boom of red and yellow banners of celebrations and oversized posters of Uncle Ho speaking into a microphone in 1945.

There is also an annual marching on the Ba Dinh Square and fireworks in the major cities of Vietnam. September 2 is truly an utmost special day for the whole Vietnam nation.

Australian Parliament House was a modern famous architecture of the world.

It was build on a large hill with fresh green grass in Canberra. This architecture had 4500 rooms. It seemed to be a little city. Main build had four angles white metal tower with Australian flag on the top of flag-pole 81m. The roof of the buiding was green grass. A bird stopped and stood on my shoulder when I took photos on the roof. Inside Parliament House, the memorial area displayed pictures of 30 premiers of Australia and painting exhibitions. The painting exhibitions showed vivid life of Australian. These paintings were changed usually according as development of life in this country.

Life & English: “My little august bloom”

Tóm tắt:

My little august bloom
I will always love you

My little august bloom
I will always love you
Even when I am feeling blue

Where ever you may be
I will be there next to you
I will always love you
My little august bloom

If you ever cry
I can see it in the sky
I will light a candle for you
My little august bloom

Every breath that I take
I take it just for you
I wish that I was there with you
My little august bloom

You will always be the light
That warms my coldest nights
You will always shine within my eyes
The only reason for my life

My little august bloom
I am so in love with you

Life & English: “Why do we learn English?”

Tóm tắt:

What is your answer if any one ask you this question?

“Why do we learn English?”

Have you ever heard this question before?

What is your answer if any one ask you this question?

I will answer : “English is very important. Now, it’s the language of the world. With English, we can write an introduction letter to find a scholarship from any universities in the world or we can find a job easier. With English, we can talk to the international friends to introduce about our countryVietnam… In the future, if we don’t have English, we can’t do anything. That’s why we learn English.”

It’s my answer.

What about you?

Life & English: “August”

August, with its clouds of scented blooms,
August, with its great stacks of giant clouds,
August, with corn plants standing like rows of soldiers,
August, with watermelons, full and heavy, dozing in the sun,
August.

August, remember swimming in the lake?
August, remember baby Alice daintily eating berries from the vine?
August, remember Richie playing with the goat?
August, remember Donald practicing on his new saxophone?
August.

August, and its lightening laced sky,
August, and newlyweds Pat and Chet decorating their first home,
August, and Billy the Brave, Billy the Fearless, on his two wheel bike,
August, and shimmering memories hanging like drops of dew,
August.

August, the bountiful, August the full,
August, Mama hot, but smiling, over a platter of succulent roast chicken,
August, Daddy mixing her a frosty mint julep,
August, blessed harvest of memories,
August.

The next visit was Angkor Thom. Its center was Bayon temple. Angkor Thom meant “Great city”. It was built after Angkor Vat about hundred years and was the last capital ofAngkorempire. Stone large walls and water channels surrounded Angkor Thom. The entrance was a special bridge. Two lines of statues stood along both sides of the bridge. Every statue had every particular appearance, different to others.

Bayon had many towers with stony statues. Many stony statues were very special, every stony statue had four faces. These were 256 faces on 54 towers in Bayon. Got a glimpse of  these stony faces, they seemed similar. However looked again and again, every stony face was different to others. View from elephant’s back, stony faces had mysterious smiles, magic eyes with sly glances.

Siem Riep located in the north Cambodia. It was a pretty and hospitable city. It seemed that all taxi drivers could speak English enough to welcome travellers and talked few stories about the city. Rented a taxi, early moring, I and my father departed from the city center of Siem Riep to visit Angkor. After some miles on a large road, the taxi left out the road, turned to a small way between forest, ran few miles, then the ancient towers appeared in front of our eyes.

Angkor Vat had large perimeter. It was around 6 kilometers with 200 hectares. Its architecture of wind and water was beautiful by the surrounding water channel. The area of temples  had four platforms. The main temple had 398 compartments. Their ceilings, corridors, banisters were wonderful sculptures. We passed doors, veranda floors and large courties then came into the center of the holy palace. It was a tower high 61 meters. Other lower towers surrounded. In there, statues and sculptures were very special. They presented scenes of Cambodian historical poems and legends. Special charm was statues of dancing-girls with mysterious smiles.

Life & English: “The Hurricane”

Tóm tắt:

Lord of the winds! ...
For the coming of the hurricane!

“The Hurricane”

Lord of the winds! I feel thee nigh,
I know thy breath in the burning sky!
And I wait, with a thrill in every vein,
For the coming of the hurricane!

And lo! on the wing of the heavy gales,
Through the boundless arch of heaven he sails;
Silent and slow, and terribly strong,
The mighty shadow is borne along,
Like the dark eternity to come;
While the world below, dismayed and dumb,
Through the calm of the thick hot atmosphere
Looks up at its gloomy folds with fear.

They darken fast; and the golden blaze
Of the sun is quenched in the lurid haze,
And he sends through the shade a funeral ray—
A glare that is neither night nor day,
A beam that touches, with hues of death,
The clouds above and the earth beneath.
To its covert glides the silent bird,
While the hurricane’s distant voice is heard,
Uplifted among the mountains round,
And the forests hear and answer the sound.

He is come! he is come! do ye not behold
His ample robes on the wind unrolled?
Giant of air! we bid thee hail!—
How his gray skirts toss in the whirling gale;
How his huge and writhing arms are bent,
To clasp the zone of the firmament,
And fold at length, in their dark embrace,
From mountain to mountain the visible space.

Darker—still darker! the whirlwinds bear
The dust of the plains to the middle air:
And hark to the crashing, long and loud,
Of the chariot of God in the thunder-cloud!
You may trace its path by the flashes that start
From the rapid wheels where’er they dart,
As the fire-bolts leap to the world below,
And flood the skies with a lurid glow.

“Storm Speech on the Heath”

Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!

You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout

Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d the cocks!

You sulphurous and thought-executing fires,

Vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts,

Singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder,

Smite flat the thick rotundity o’ the world!

Crack nature’s moulds, an germens spill at once,

That make ingrateful man!

Life & English: “Hello July”

Tóm tắt:

July is my favorite month...

July is the month where the families get the barbeque grills fired up.

July is the month where the night sky is light up with fire works.

July is the month where many families go out of town to be with family.

July is the month where many kids are dreary because it’s a month away for school.

July is the month where America gets to celebrate its independence from England.

July is the month where many people are dying of the heat of the summer.

July is my favorite month because it’s the time that I get to be myself around my family.
